Biography

Having graduated in Religious Studies and Philosophy, Shaheda went on to study an undergraduate course in Community Development Practice. As part of this she facilitated a conference around improving access to education for ethnic minority communities. The conference brought together young people, community groups, local teachers and heads of schools to plan projects that address barriers to accessing further and higher education.

Shaheda has also completed the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) programme and has experience of teaching adult learners in a community setting. Shaheda's work in community development has also involved developing projects to improve opportunities for local communities and grant writing to secure funding. In her current role she combines her interests in bettering student experiences of education, with working towards addressing inequalities for ethnic minority communities.
