Dr Bin Guo is a research associate at Hydro-environmental Research Center, conducting research within the field of marine renewable energy, particularly numerical and experimental modelling of renewable energy schemes, and supporting engagement with Welsh Enterprises.

His research activity is dedicated to developing numerical models for tidal energy scheme especialy Tidal Range Schemes (TRSs), and subsequently the hydrodynamics and hydro-environmental impacts of tidal eneergy projects.

He obtained his MEng degree in hydraulics and structural Engineering from Northwest A&F University of China in 2016, and achieved his PhD form Cardiff University in early 2022 . Prior to his current position, he was a postdoctoral research officer at Ocean Science School, Bangor University.

Research interests:

  • Tidal modelling includes past and present tide.
  • Marine renewable energy development especially tidal range energy.
  • Hydro-environmental research includes water quality and sediment transport modelling.
