Dr Emma Barnes

Research Associate

I joined the School of Dentistry in February 2022 as a Research Associate in Welsh Oral Health Information Unit (WOHIU), working on the childhood oral epidemiology programme.

I am also working on a study being conducted in collaboration with Cardiff Unit for Research and Evaluation in Medical and Dental Education (CUREMeDE) on behalf of the General Dental Council entitled "Evaluating Enhanced Continuing Professional Development".

I am a healthcare services researcher with experience of exploring different aspects of health and social care in the primary, secondary and voluntary sectors. I have worked on studies on professional education, workforce development, and skill-mix in various healthcare services with a special interest in the dental service. My work has involved collaborations with external educational, health, social care, regulatory, and governmental organisations.
