Overview
I study public procurement, with a special interest in the procurement of complex product systems and innovation and the use of procurement for strategic policy objectives like sustainability, social value, and place-based economic development. I am also interested in defence procurement, which served as my gateway to public procurement research. Methodologically, I love working with text data (sentiment analysis, topic modelling) and data visualisation.

Research
I'm a post-doctoral researcher within the Innovative Future Services programme (InFuSe) at Y Lab - the public services innovation lab in Wales, where I'm responsible for the production of a portfolio of research and resources related to strategic or policy-led public procurement.
I am also a founding member of the Consortium for Research in Innovative and Strategic Public Procurement (CRISPP), a collaboration between the universities of Manchester, Birmingham, and Connected Places Catapult, founded in 2021 to address critical research gaps and support policymakers and practitioners in the UK on the topic of regional innovation, productivity, and public procurement.
My PhD thesis, titled "Public procurement and innovation: is defence different?", was supervised by Prof Andrew D. James and Dr John Rigby at the University of Manchester and examined by Prof Jakob Edler and Prof Nicholas S. Vonortas in 2021. It explored the similarities and differences between military procurement and non-military or civilian public procurement in the UK, with case studies of recent megaprojects like the Queen Elizabeth programme, Armoured Cavalry 2025, Thameslink and Intercity Express Programme.
Between 2015 and 2017, I was a Master's student at Sciences Po-Paris, where I studied international economic policy and defence economics. My Master's thesis on the challenges of defence procurement in India was awarded the inaugural Prix Bastien Irondelle from AEGES and the 2017 Defence Economics Award from the Ministère des Armées in France.
I graduated from St. Stephen's College (Delhi University) in 2015 and was keen to explore new societies, histories, and cultures. My academic career so far has provided some excellent opportunities for engaging with social issues in different places, and I find myself constantly comparing or making linkages across geography. I am still in the exploration phase and really enjoy doing research.
