Overview

I am currently a post-doctoral researcher in the labs of Dr. Timothy Wells and Dr. Sean Wyatt, studying the impact of Snord116 deletion in neuronal development. Snord116 is a non-coding RNA not expressed by individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome, a disorder characterised by hyperphagia and mild cognitive impairment.

I have expertise in high-throughput cellular imaging, 3D neuron/glia reconstruction and automated morphometric analysis which I have put to good use throughout my PhD and subsequent post-doctoral research.

My research interests focus upon the role microglia play in modifying both neuronal architecture and activity. Understanding the complex relationship between microglia and neurons is of particular importance given that dysfunctional microglia-neuronal interactions are implicated in the aetiology of many neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disorders.
