Maeve is Registered Midwife and Nurse with a PhD on fear of childbirth. Maeve has a wide range of clinical experience from London and Ireland. Her interests are care of high risk women and intrapartum care. She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Nursing in Midwifery at RCSI which was awarded in recognition of her exceptional commitment, dedication and contribution in Midwifery.


I am an academic midwife with a PhD exploring fear of childbirth. My research has resulted in a number of journal publications, which are widely cited, and a book chapter in an edited text about understanding childbirth fear and anxiety. I am an Associate Editor for Women & Birth, the Journal of the Australian College of Midwives since July 2019. I peer review for Midwifery, BJOG, BMC Pregnancy & Childbirth, Nursing Open and British Journal of Midwifery. I have a strong presence on Twitter promoting midwifery and research.

As an educator, my mission is to educate, nurture, and foster independent critical thinking and learning in students.

I lead various modules on the BMid. I am involved in the development of the new FMC 25 Programme.

I have an interest in Interprofessional Education.
