BA (Southampton), MA (Cardiff), PGCE (Cardiff)
Lecturer (Teaching and Scholarship)
Sara has been teaching public relations for the past eight years and launched a BA in Public and Media Relations at Swansea University in 2005. A trained teacher in post-compulsory education, Sara still manages public relations work alongside her teaching commitments, and has most recently been involved in the promotion of Arts and Humanities research.
Prior to working in education, Sara started her career in newspaper advertising before quickly moving to a public relations agency where she spent a number of years as an Account Director. In 2000 she decided to embark on a free-lance career and has represented many clients including Barnardo’s Cymru, Bristol Rugby Club, Exeter University’s Student Guild, First Campus, Fishworks PLC, Glamorgan University, Meningitis Research Foundation, uber-trendy café/cycleworks Mud Dock, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama and Swansea University’s Research Institute for Arts and Humanities (RIAH).
Alongside teaching public relations, Sara has always had an interest in business and entrepreneurship and recently developed a module for students as part of the Academic Champions of Enterprise (ACE) Programme. Using a Sim Venture scenario, the module teaches key business and employability skills to undergraduates who might want to pursue an entrepreneurial route once they graduate.
Sara teaches Public Relations Theory and Practice on the MA in International Public Relations and Global Communication Management.
