Dr Jenna Spencer-Briggs
Teacher in Chemistry
I am a Teacher in Chemistry at Cardiff University. I am involved in the preparation, coordination and delivery of organic chemistry at undergraduate and postgraduate level in lectures, workshops and laboratory sessions.
My PhD was funded by the Graduate Teaching Assistant program, and this helped develop my passion for Chemistry Education. My contributions to learning and teaching have been acknowledged through my recognition as a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and my 2019 Academic Award (University of Sheffield) for Best Postgraduate Research Student Who Teaches.
I have a keen interest in both organic synthesis and chemical education.
Associate Member of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
Jenna completed her PhD (2019) at the University of Sheffield, under the supervision of Professor Simon Jones, focussing on enantioselective synthesis of pyrrolidinone frameworks using organocatalysed anthrone cycloadditions.
She then worked as a Chemist at Redbrick Molecular (2020). Working at the interface of industry and UK Higher Education; researching and developing synthetic routes to produce novel building block molecules at scale.
Jenna was appointed as a Teacher in Chemistry at Cardiff University in Feb 2020.
