Overview
Dr Abraham Nieva de la Hidalga currently collaborates as a research associate at the UK Catalysis Hub. He is currently involved in the design and development of the Catalysis Data Infrastructure and the Catalysis Research Workbench. Additionally, he is collaborating in the ESPRC funded development of the Physical Sciences Data Infrastructure, a project led by the Scientific Computing Department of the Science and Technology Facilities Council.
His main research interests relate to the development of advanced research infrastructures. In previous projects he has worked supporting Biodiversity Research (BioVeL), Natural History Collections Digitisation (ICEDIG), Chemistry (UPP-Portal) and Environmental Research Infrastructures (ENVRIplus).
He actively looks to collaborate on research project related to the development of tools and platforms for e-Science, Data Science and applied AI.

Research
From my PhD and trough my post-doctoral work I have been intrested in different aspects of software engineering.
I have research experiend on business-oriented systems for electronic tendering, e-mail filtering and end user workflow composition tools. In the area of e-science, I have undertaken reserach in a wide range of topics including requirements engineering, development of components, creation of easier user interfaces, analysis of the design of large e-infrastructures and improvement of data management and processing practices.
I am currently interested in research about the development of tools and platforms for e-Science, data science and applied AI.
Biography
I graduated from univeristy in 1998 and worked in the public and private sector in different development roles before comming to the UK for postgraduate studies. As a result, I have over 20 years of experience in software development of desktop and web-based applications, using technologies such as: Java, Python, C#, Visual Basic .NET, ASP/ASPX, Ruby on Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, SQL (MySQL, SQL Server, ORACLE).
After graduating from my PhD I started working in research in the areas of software engineering, web services, e-business, e-science, development patterns and software product lines. I have been working in research for more than 12 years.
During and after my PhD I also acquired teaching experience at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
