In 2012 I graduated from the University of Granada with a Master of Research in Translation and Interpreting studies and appointed Sworn Translator of English by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation. Previous to this I studied an undergraduate degree in Translation and Interpreting at Granada.

After completing my studies I taught Spanish as a Foreign Language, Translation and Interpreting modules at Ulster University. I joined the Hispanic Studies Department at Cardiff University in 2015 and I am currently teaching Spanish language and Specialised Translation modules at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

In regard to my administrative duties, I have undertaken a wide and varied range of roles within the School. At present I am the Academic Director for Routes into Languages Cymru, a pan-Wales collaborative outreach project that promotes the visibility, uptake and profile of languages in schools in Wales. Research

My research interests lie in the fields of Translation in Language Teaching and Learning, Legal Translation, Second Language Acquisition and Teaching Spanish as a Foreign Language.

As part of my research I work on the use of audiovisual materials in the Spanish as a Foreing Language classroom, particularily the use of audiovisual materials in the translation classes and students as co-creators for module and assessment development.

At present, I am part of a School wide project entitled 'Language learning and assessing with ChatGPT and other Artificial Intelligence-based chatbots' which aims at understanding how students are using AI chatbots as well as researching how to integrate these tools in a efficient and ethical manner into our teaching practice.
