Greg Mothersdale

Overview

Greg is an R&D Producer (R&D) at Media Cymru, providing support for project delivery and co-ordinating wider programmes and strategy development, he leads on environmental sustainability and virtual production.  

Media Cymru is a Cardiff University collaboration led by Cardiff University to turn the Cardiff Capital Region into a global hub for media innovation with a focus on green and equitable economic growth.

Prior to Media Wales, Greg was an R&D Producer at Cwtwr, a media innovation cluster within the AHRC (Arts and Humanities Research Council) funded Creative Industries Clusters Programme.

During Cluster, Greg led on securing the BFI-funded  Albert Screen New Deal Transformation for Wales pilot and is a member of the forum and working groups. Partners include the BFI (British Film Institute), BAFTA Albert, ARUP, Creative Wales and Ffilm Cymru Wales.

Greg co-wrote Green Innovation's policy brief for the Screen Sector and also led on the 'Animation and the Climate Crisis' event in collaboration with Cardiff Animation Festival and the AHRC.

Greg is a Co-Investigator on XR+ Network Virtual Production in the Digital Economy, a project funded by ESPRC (Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council).

Prior to this, he worked in the media industry for over 20 years, in production, production, studios, festivals and events. His roles include Studio Manager and Bad Wolf Production Liaison at Wolf Studios Wales during the filming of 'His Dark Materials' and 'A Discovery of Witches', line producer for 'The Lighthouse' Chris Crow, Sky 'Stella' Coordinator, Screen Wales Production Liaison Officer, Dragon Digital Production Executive Officer, Cardiff Film Festival Manager and Project Manager for training initiatives for Film Wales, BFI Network, Literature Wales and the 'In the Room' screenwriter lab in Hay-on-Wye.
