Overview

Cardiff-trained, NCTJ-qualified.

Sandra has more than 25 years' experience as a journalist, many of them at Media Wales (Reach) in Cardiff. She worked on Wales Online, South Wales Echo, Western Mail, Wales on Sunday and the Celtic titles. Most recently, Sandra was the editor of Wales on Sunday. She began her career at the Herald Express in Devon.

Sandra teaches news practice on the MAJ News pathway. She also teaches media law and shorthand across the MAJ pathways for news, broadcast and magazines students. She leads an Investigations module for MAJ students and offers guests lectures to JOMEC students studying International Journalism, International Public Relations and the MSc in Computational and Data Journalism.

For the NCTJ (National Council for the Training of Journalists), Sandra has a role on the boards of both media law and shorthand. 

She is a Fellow of the HEA, in recognition of attainment against the UK Professional Standards Framework for teaching and learning support in higher education.

She is chair of the Practice Ethics Sub-Committe at JOMEC.
