I am coordinator for GARNet,  which is a UKRI-BBSRC network that supports fundamental plant science researchers in the UK through organisation of workshops, knowledge exchange and community interaction.

I conducted my PhD on plant hormone biology with Professor Malcolm Bennett at the University of Nottingham after which I moved to the USA to work with Professor Mark Estelle at Indiana University. During this time I worked on hormone biology as well on elucidating the function of the plant nuclear pore complex.

In 2011 I returned to the UK to take up a Lecturership in Genetics and Plant Science at the University of Liverpool where I continued to work on the nuclear pore complex.

In 2015 I moved to Cardiff University to take up my role with GARNet.

During my time at Cardiff I led the Cardiff_Wales team of undergraduates who, over three years, took part in a global synthetic biology competition called iGEM.

In the 2018 competition the team won a gold medal and the award for the Best Plant Synthetic Biology project.
