Scott McKenzie

Overview

I'm the Head of Widening Participation at the University and also lead on teaching and curriculum design for educational outreach. I'm particularly interested in the use of digital technologies and blended learning for widening participation and outreach.

Currently, I'm undertaking a Professional Doctorate in Education and my research focusses on geographies of deprivation and access to Higher Education in Wales. I'm a member of the NERUPI Steering Group (The Network for Evaluation and Researching University Participation Initiatives) and have experience of developing praxis-based evaluation for outreach initiatives.

Previously, I worked as Director of First Campus Reaching Wider - a collaborative widening access programme in Wales funded by HEFCW. In this role, I provided regional strategic direction and leadership for the social mobility agenda.
