Jonathan Hopkins

Law Tutor

Overview

Legal Practice

I am a practising commercial solicitor at a well-known international law firm. I specialise in defending all types of claims against a wide range of professionals (solicitors, brokers, accountants, financial advisors, etc), but with particular emphasis on disputes arising from construction & engineering professionals.

My practice also involves investigating and advising insurers on a wide range of complex commercial insurance coverage matters.

Teaching & Research

I am an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.

I joined Cardiff University's School of Law and Politics in 2018 as a Tutor and I currently teach on the LLB Commercial Law module. I also teach on the LLB Contract Law & Tort Law module at The Open University.

I am currently undertaking the Insurance Law LLM at the Insurance, Shipping and Aviation Law Institute, Queen Mary University of London. My research interest lies generally in contract law (primarily commercial contracts), insurance law generally, and the interaction between law and technology (particularly its impact on insurance law). I am very happy to collaborate with anyone on these subject areas; please feel free to contact me.
