Digital Lab Manager
Matthew is responsible for the day to day running of the Welsh School Architecture’s Digital Fabrication facility. He is able to offer advice on broad aspect of design and making; as well as supporting the set up and creation of digital files (CNC Router, Laser Cutter and 3d Printer).
Matthew has been a practising artist since the late 1980’s, exhibiting locally, private tutoring and selling works privately. Since 2003, the main body of his art practice has focused our relationship with the urban landscape, with an emphasis on composition. In 2016 Matthew was one of 140 artists selected to represent Wales in the Imargo Munda Collection.
Matthew is also a keen maker, who in 2013 he set up Hosshaus Design as an outlet for his more commercial craft.
Since studying a BA in Fine Art, Contemporary media and completing a Master Degree is Fine Art, Matthew has worked in a supporting role; advising staff and students in the development and fabrication of artefacts across the broad creative sector of education, as well advising artists in a technical capacity.
Before taking the role of Digital Craftsman at the Welsh School of Architecture, Matthew was a Senior Fabrication Technician at the Newport School of Art and Design and a Technical Demonstrator within the Soft Modelling Department of Cardiff School of Art and Design.
