Overview

I am an academic child and adolescent psychiatry trainee on the Wales Clinical Academic Track (WCAT) scheme. My time is divided between clinical training in the NHS in South Wales, and research in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Section at Cardiff University.

My research is focused on irritability, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and depression in young people. I am interested in understanding more about early risk factors for depression, particularly in children and young people with severe irritability and ADHD.

I was awarded a Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Training Fellowship to undertake my PhD (completed 2019) titled "Chronic irritability in ADHD: examining clinical and genetic links with depression". This explored the link between childhood irritability and later adolescent depression in young people with ADHD and other neurodevelopmental difficulties.
