Overview

I have been a member of the Wound Healing Department education team since May 2005. My current post as Lecturer / Nurse Practitioner combines teaching within the unit along side my clinical practice. I am the Senior Clinical Nurse Lead and coordinator for the Departments’ Out-Patient Wound Healing Clinics in both Cardiff and Gwent. Previous to that I worked within the unit as a Research Liaison Nurse.

My background is within District Nursing, having worked for Cardiff and Vale University Health Board since 1985. My interest in nurse education has spanned many years culminating in a Community Practice Educator Post in 2000. In recent years I have become a Registered Lecturer / Practice Educator after successfully completing a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at Cardiff University.

I undertake lecturing on other courses throughout the University and am a tutor for the Departments’ medical student’s student selected component (SSC) in years 2 and 3 of their training programme. I also lecture for the Departments’ short wound healing workshops for people working in the pharmaceutical industry

I have presented posters at eight wound care conferences – three at Wounds UK, Harrogate; one at the European Wound Management Association, Pisa, Italy; three at the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, in Amsterdam, Holland, Oporto in Portugal and Cardiff, UK; and one at Wounds International, Cape Town, South Africa and has given one oral presentation at the European Pressure Ulcer Advisory Panel, in Oporto Portugal; and to date have six publications.
