Research summary

I study how motivation and environmental support, for example for basic  psychological needs, determines the quality relationships and well-being. I  examine these topics in relation to adaptive self-regulation, such as the  regulation of negative emotions and psychological stress, as well as effort and  care extended to relationships. In addition, I study the links between nature  and human experience. I examine the function of nature as an energising agent  and a catalyst for connecting to one’s environment and toward other people.

Teaching summary

I have been teaching  courses on psychotherapy, relationships, and statistics.

Postgraduate education

I obtained a PhD in Clinical Psychology from the  University of Rochester in New York with a research emphasis of Social and  Motivational Psychology. I was an associate researcher at the University of  Hamburg in Germany in the department of Motivation and Education, and more  recently a Lecturer in the Psychology Department at the University of Essex.
