Research

My research interests are in regional economic development, specifically focused on entrepreneurship, innovation, and networks. As such I study aspects of high technology entrepreneurship (e.g. academic spinoffs), small business sustainability, knowledge spillovers, and spatial configurations of networks of economic actors (e.g. entrepreneurial ecosystems). By exploring these areas I try to understand the uneven nature of economic development and what various economic actors do to overcome these spatial problems.

Biography

Previous to this position I worked as a Lecturer in International Business at Sheffield Business School (2015-2018). I completed my ESRC-sponsored PhD (2017) at the School of Geography and Planning (Cardiff) on “The Determinants of University Spinout Formation and Survival: The UK Context of Network, Investment, and Management Team Effects”.
