Overview

I am a psychiatrist and researcher with the Section of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, Division of Psychological Medicine and Clinical Neurosciences.

I am interested in research and clinical work from child to adult life, and mental health difficulties during this key transitional period. I am dual-trained in psychiatry for children/adolescents and adults. I am also interested in the role of visual and digital media in mental health, and have studied illustration and graphic design at Central St Martins and Kingston University (London).

In 2018, I was awarded a Post-Doctoral Fellowship from the National Institute of Health Research (NIHR) and Health and Care Research Wales (HCRW) – to further develop a digital programme for depression in young people and to lead a trial on this. The programme was originally developed as part of an NIHR/HCRW Doctoral Research Fellowship (2013-2017). In 2022, I was awarded the 'Digital Innovation Award for Best Research on Digital Impact' by the Association for Child and Adolescent Mental Health (ACAMH).

I am also working on projects such as the Early Prediction of Adolescent Depression study ('EPAD study'), the PAMAd study to evaluate mental health services in Georgia, the TRIUMPH adolescent mental health network, and the ADHD digital resource co-development project. I co-lead child and adolescent psychiatry teaching at Cardiff University.
