Overview

I gained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the University of Bristol in 2010, and after this I completed Dental Foundation Training in the South West Deanery. Over the next 12 years I worked as an associate in several general dental practices, mainly within the NHS including high need areas in South Wales.

In 2016 I became a member of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, and in 2019 I was made an examiner for the MFDS exam for RCS (England).

Since 2017 I have been a Clinical Lecturer in Restorative Dentistry at Cardiff Dental School, where my roles include:

  • Year 5 lead
  • Final BDS assessment lead
  • Topic lead: Preparing for Patients Operative course
  • Teaching on the Removable Prosthodontics and Periodontics courses
  • Clinical supervision of undergraduate dental education clinics

In 2023 I undertook the Cardiff University Education Fellowship Programme and gained Fellowship with Advance HE.

I am passionate about using my General Practice experience to prepare students for a life in Dentistry, whatever path they choose. I have a particular interest in Minimal Intervention Dentistry and Cariology.

  • Preparing for Patients Operative Course (Topic Lead). A course encompassing a variety of lectures, directed self-learning and practical laboratory-based sessions teaching 2nd Year BDS students how to manage carious lesions using principles of Minimally Invasive Dentistry
  • Removable Prosthodontics (teacher and supervisor)
