Overview

I obtained my BDS in Dental Medicine in West China College of Stomatology, Sichuan University and my MSc in Dental Implantology at Cardiff University.  I am currently a PhD student in the Advanced Therapies Group, supervised by Professor David Thomas and Dr Katja Hill.  My PhD is funded by Qbiotics Ltd, Queensland, Australia.

Research

Research interests

My research involves characterisation of novel epoxy-tiglianes and their therapeutic effects on multi-drug resistant chronic wound bacteria and oral pathogens.

Thesis

Epoxy-Tiglianes For The Treatment Of Chronic Wounds And Multi-Drug Resistant Bacterial Infections

The work in this thesis will determine if compounds based on the epoxy-tigliane structure EBC46 are able to modify the behaviour of common chronic wound pathogens, such as P.aeruginosa, A. baumannii, S.pyogenes and MRSA, and specifically study how the modify bacterial and biofilm structure and assembly.  As these agents are safe for topical application we will deliver a new compound for the topical treatment of multi-drug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infections.
