Blair Boyd

Research student, School of Music

I am a composer from Tennessee whose work has been performed throughout the US and UK.

Most recently my work has been performed at the National Museum Cardiff and presented as part of workshops with the Carducci Quartet at Cardiff University and Trish Clowes Emulsion Quartet as part of the Cheltenham Composer's Academy. I have also worked extensively with Bristol CoMA, who preformed my piece for flexible ensemble at both Bristol University and Colston Hall.

I am currently working towards a PhD in Composition at Cardiff University under the supervision of Dr. Arlene Sierra.

I began composing at the University of Tennessee, earning a BMus in Theory and Composition (summa cum laude) and recently completed an MA in Music (distinction) from the University of Bristol.

My research focuses on movement in music with particular emphasis on the perception of grooves.
