Rebecca Williams

Research student, School of Modern Languages

I obtained a Bachelor of Arts in French and Italian (2014) and a Master of Arts in Translation Studies (2015) from Cardiff University. During my undergraduate degree, I studied at the University of Geneva for four months and at Ca' Foscari University of Venice for four months.

I am currently a PhD candidate in Translation Studies. My research explores the construction of gender and physical diversity in selected English translations and re-editions of Carlo Collodi's Le Avventure di Pinocchio (1883) and Madame Jeanne-Marie Le Prince De Beaumont's La Belle et La Bête (1756). It considers the extent to which these constructions affect the translation of children's literature.
