I am focused on the biology of Haematopoietic Stem Cells - the blood forming cells. At the ECSCRI, several research groups are interested in Cancer Stem Cells in diverse systems. These cells are thought to be the main drivers of tumors and are therefore a potential powerful target for therapy. My research is focused on the Notch signalling pathway. This pathway is known to regulate the way many of the human cells decide which cellular fate to undertake and many other important cellular decisions. In the haematopoietic system, this pathway is showing to be a potential therapeutic target for certain Laeukemias. However its role in human Haematopoietic Stem Cells is still largely unexplored, so it is my aim to address this question.
