Overview

I work on improving the modelling of volcanic ash from plumes produced by explosive basaltic activity at Mt Etna. This will done in conjuction with the Istituto Nazionale di Geofisica e Vulcanologia (National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, I.N.G.V.).

Volcanic plumes from explosive basaltic eruptions: the case of Mount Etna (Italy)

My thesis aims to improve the modelling of volcanic ash plumes produced by the increased basaltic activity at Mt Etna. This will be achieved by fioeldwork, numerical modelling and with the use of Volcanic Ash Transportation and Dispersal Models (VATDMs).
