This course is aimed at students who have studied Russian for one year part-time, who wish to further improve their language skills and at the same time get an insight into Russian life and culture.
In class you will get ample opportunity to speak through pair-work and group exercises; listen to authentic audio/video tapes; read short texts and complete exercises which will enhance your vocabulary and your knowledge of grammar.
This course is for students who have a basic knowledge of Russian, who wish to further improve their communication skills in oral, aural and written form.

Learning and teaching
The emphasis of the course is on participation and students are encouraged to actively participate in class through various non-threatening forms of activities designed to stimulate communication.
The following topics will be covered:
- me and my family (revision)
- my city; my town; my village (revision)
- the Weather
- travel and transport
- holidays
Grammar:
- declension of nouns
- prepositions
- direct/indirect objects
- perfective/imperfective verbs.
The photocopies of the learning material will be provided.
Coursework and assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved.
Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects.
You will not have formal examinations but you may have reading and listening class tests. You may be asked to write short texts as homework.
Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student.
The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning.
Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
