This course is aimed at students who have studied Russian for three years part-time, who wish to further progress their active and passive language skills and at the same time learn more about cultural issues of Russia.
Grammar: - declension of nouns; adjectives and numerals; modal verbs; complex sentences with different types of clauses; direct & indirect speech; active and passive participles Vocabulary/Topics: - food and restaurants/cafes; at the post office; health and illnesses; hotels and russian houses; theatres and libraries; Russian Speech Cliches.
This course is aimed at students who want to further improve their communication skills in Russian. The emphasis will be on improving students' communication skills in speaking, listening and pronunciation to enable them discuss a variety of topics in Russian.
Learning and teaching
The emphasis of the course is on participation and students are encouraged to actively participate in class through various non-threatening forms of activities designed to stimulate communication.
Coursework and assessment
To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved. Some of this has to be in a form that can be shown to external examiners so that we can be absolutely sure that standards are met across all courses and subjects. You will not have formal examinations but you may have class tests. You may be asked to write essays at home. Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student.
The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
