The course will give you the opportunity to extend your understanding and ability to use counselling skills through exercises, role-plays and in writing your reflective journal.

Learning and teaching

Themes include:

  • helping clients tell their story using a collage done at home
  • developmental life-stages
  • using imagery
  • challenging and confronting
  • working with cultural differences
  • solution focuses work with clients
  • loss and bereavement
  • transactional analysis
  • observing ourselves in practice

Coursework and assessment

To award credits we need to have evidence of the knowledge and skills you have gained or improved. Students will complete a reflective journal which will evidence their learning week by week. Our assessments are flexible to suit the course and the student.

The most important element of assessment is that it should enhance your learning. Our methods are designed to increase your confidence and we try very hard to devise ways of assessing you that are enjoyable and suitable for adults with busy lives.
