This year's 2016 Edward Lhuyd Lecture focuses on Renaissance Scholar, William Salesbury. The Oxford educated Llansannan boy changed the course of Welsh history thanks to his work as the chief translator of the first Welsh New Testament.

Salesbury published his first Welsh language book c1547, where he proclaimed his 'manifesto' for the Welsh people. But what do Salesbury and his manifesto mean in the modern Wales?

Professor E. Wyn James will deliver this year's Edward Lhuyd Lecture in the Council Chamber at Cardiff University's Main Building at 5.30pm on Tuesday, 15 November 2016. Professor M.Wynn Thomas is chairing.
