What does the future hold?

18 March 2013

'A change can do you good' – at least that's what we believe in Human Resources. The launch of the new HR and Payroll system also means we have needed to change the way we offer you support from central HR.

From February 2013 you can now get answers to any questions you may have around HR policies, recruitment or contractual information from one place – The People Service Centre based in HR.

The People Service Centre can be contacted on ext: 79777 or people@cardiff.ac.uk and any member of the team will aim to support you effectively and efficiently with your questions.

The team are now logging all of your queries on a call management system which ensures that you know the status of your query and when your query has been resolved.  From a HR point of view it enables us to ensure that we deliver the kind of service that staff across the University should expect from HR.

This support will be vital over coming months as the changes being introduced by the Cardiff People programme increases.  The following information gives you an idea of what will happen and when:

June 2013 – August 2013

  • An updated version of the self service portal will be launched.
  • Electronic payslips will go live – staff with computer access will no longer be provided with a paper copy of their payslip.
  • Staff will be able to input timesheets into the system.
  • Managers will be able to view and action appropriate tasks in relation to the staff they line manage/supervise.

September/October 2013

  • All Staff Development Programme courses will be available to book through the system.
  • Probation and Appraisal will be changing too.
