Creative Minds scholarships

Five undergraduate scholarships worth £3,000 each are available to students electing to study Welsh at Cardiff University.

Applicants are asked to answer the following questions:

  • Why do you want to study Welsh in Cardiff?
  • What makes you special?
  • Why should the School of Welsh, Cardiff University accept you?

You can send the application to us in any form – and the creativity of the application is taken in to consideration. Here are some ideas for how to present your application: video, podcast, poster, song, presentation, essay, poem…. Be as creative as possible.

Cardiff University scholarships

We are offering scholarships worth £3,000 each for every student who comes to study with us in 2016 as a first choice and has achieved AAA at A-level (or qualifications with an equal value).

Each Cardiff University Scholarship is worth £3,000. They are cash payments and are not means tested.

The courses which are eligible for 2016 entry are:

  • BA Welsh
  • BA Welsh and German
  • BA Welsh and Italian
  • BA Welsh and Archaeology
  • BA Welsh and Spanish
  • BA Welsh and Philosophy
  • BA Welsh and Sociology
  • BA Welsh and Music
  • BA Welsh and Education
  • BA Welsh and French
  • BA Welsh and Journalism
  • BA Welsh and Religious Studies

In order to obtain a scholarship you need to:

  • achieve grades AAA at A-level (or equivalent)
  • satisfy all aspects of your offer
  • accept the offer of a place at Cardiff University on a firm basis by 31 July 2016
  • meet all the terms of our terms and conditions.

You don't need to apply for a scholarship. As long as you have accepted the offer you have received for a designated degree programme from Cardiff University on a firm basis by 31 July 2016, then you will automatically be considered for an award.

Cardiff University bursaries

Cardiff University Bursaries are available to full-time undergraduate students from low income homes who will be starting their studies in September. The bursary amounts range from £300 to £1,000 per year. For further information visit Cardiff University’s Undergraduate Bursaries webpage.

Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol scholarships

The Coleg Cymraeg Cenedlaethol usually offers around 150 scholarships for undergraduate students who will be studying through the medium of Welsh. The Scholarships are worth £3,000 over three years and are available to students studying in the medium of Welsh and commencing their studies in the new academic year.
