Video: ‘Jagged Edge’ continues to exacerbate criminal justice challenges

An audience at the National Eisteddfod heard the key lessons from a landmark book by academics based at Cardiff University’s Wales Governance Centre.

Speaking at the National Eisteddfod in Boduan earlier this August, Professor Richard Wyn Jones showed how the ‘Jagged Edge’ between devolved and reserved policy responsibilities had exacerbated problems in the Welsh criminal justice system. The talk was based on his book with Dr Robert Jones, The Welsh Criminal Justice System: On the Jagged Edge (University of Wales Press).

During the presentation, Wyn Jones also unveiled new data on the current imprisonment rate and the geographic dispersal of Welsh-speaking people throughout the prisons system.
