The prestigious QS World Rankings by Subject have classified the School of Journalism, Media and Culture as the third best communication and media studies school in the UK.

Internationally, the school was ranked as Europe's sixth best and twenty-second globally, based upon an analysis of over two hundred media schools.

The ranking places the school amongst the very best institutions world-wide.

The results, which are compiled annually to help prospective students identify the leading universities in a particular subject, draw on research citations data, along with the results of major global surveys of employers and academics to rank universities.

Head of School, Matt Walsh, welcomed the QS Ranking's continued recognition of the school's teaching and research excellence. He said, "It's especially important that our UK, EU and international applicants apply to us with confidence, and this global profile helps us to achieve this aim.

"Students arriving this September will do so in the knowledge their degree is of the highest academic standards and will be delivered within Two Central Square, our prime city-centre location equipped with the latest learning facilities, technology and resources."

First and second in the UK were The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and Goldsmiths respectfully.
