Community Gateway and Creative Cardiff forge a new and exciting partnership for 2020

15 July 2020

Creative Cardiff partnership

Creative Cardiff is a network which connects people working in any creative organisation, business or job in the Cardiff region. By encouraging people to work together they believe that they can make Cardiff the most creative place it can be. You can find out more about their work here.

Through this partnership, Creative Cardiff aims to raise awareness of Community Gateway’s work, connect more creatives with the project and engage more Grangetown residents with Creative Cardiff’s work.

Community Gateway is a Cardiff University engagement programme which brokers university and community partnerships in Grangetown. It has launched more than 60 community-university projects making connections between University staff, students and Grangetown residents to help bring community-led ideas to life. One of those projects is the redevelopment of Grange Pavilion from a former bowls pavilion into a community space for local residents. You can find out more about Grange Pavilion here.

To mark and celebrate the opening of the new Grange Pavilion, Creative Cardiff and Community Gateway has joined forces to tell the story of Grange Pavilion. We will celebrate this journey by highlighting a selection of personal stories from Grangetown residents and bringing them to life as artwork and videos with the help of Cardiff’s creative community.

Creative Cardiff commissioned Cardiff illustrator Jack Skivens to tell the story of Grange Pavilion's eight-year long journey from bowling green to community centre. He’s been working his illustrator magic and the final piece will be launched digitally in July.  To find out more about Jack’s creative processes, the impact of COVID-19 on his work and his experience creating a storyboard capturing eight years of the Grange Pavilion Project, click here (https://www.creativecardiff.org.uk/community-gateway/illustrator-jack-skivens-shares-how-he-telling-grange-pavilion-story)

We’ll be sharing updates via our social media channels (Twitter, Facebook and Instagram) and on this website as articles, but if you’d like to know more or get involved email us at communitygateway@cardiff.ac.uk.
