Professor Terry Chapin named Honorary Distinguished Professor

This month Professor Terry Chapin was awarded the title of Honorary Distinguished Professor, Sustainable Places Research Institute.
Terry is Professor Emeritus of Ecology at the Institute of Arctic Biology, University of Alaska Fairbanks. An ecosystem ecologist whose research addresses the sustainability of ecosystems and human communities in a rapidly changing planet, his work emphasizes the impacts of climate change on Alaskan ecology, subsistence resources, and indigenous communities, as a basis for developing climate-change adaptation plans.
Terry is former President of the Ecological Society of America and has served on numerous International Committees and Advisory Groups, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the US National Climate Assessment Advisory Committee, to name just a few.
