Diploma in Public Service Interpreting

We are an examination centre for the Chartered Institute of Linguists’ Diploma in Public Service Interpreting.

Both internal and external candidates can sit the DPSI examination at Cardiff provided the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIoL) have enough teams of assessors available for their language. Otherwise the candidates have to be examined in London for the oral part.

The written units can always be taken in Cardiff.

Dates, fees and registration

The exam takes place in mid June, with the exact dates and fees advertised on the Chartered Institute of Linguists web site, along with details on how to register.

In addition to the examination fee charged by the Chartered Institute of Linguists, there is a Centre fee of around £165 (£55 for each of three tasks).

If you wish to register for the examinations, you should contact the Chartered Institute of Linguists directly (we are not able to assist you with the registration process), between November and end of January. Please note that candidates should register as an Institute of Linguists IoLET affiliate member in order to register for this exam. IoLET affiliate membership offers additional study resources, along with other benefits.
