Time for Change, Improving Care & Support for People with Learning Disabilities

In recent years, several investigations have uncovered harrowing details of the abuse and neglect of people with learning disabilities within institutions intended to care for them. In this past year, the University of Bristol found that one in eight deaths of people with learning disabilities in care were impacted by failures in care (Learning Disabilities Mortality Review, 2018). The findings have raised alarm in the sector and calls for close scrutiny, but have also sparked a conversation about how we view and treat those with learning disabilities equally to others. This conference is designed to help those many organisations and care practitioners dedicated to providing exceptional care for people with learning disabilities, offering not only support but the opportunity to flourish. We will cover a range of topics and contexts and are also pleased to host a panel of care-experienced people with learning disabilities to share their views on our discussions.

This event is free of charge. Registration is essential. Failure to attend or provide 2 working days' notice of cancellation will result in a £30 cancellation fee charge to a delegate's employers. This is a blanket policy and will be implemented regardless of circumstances. ExChange will honour a booking should you notify us of someone attending in your place.
