Join us for a showcase of the world-leading neuroscience and mental health research being undertaken by Cardiff University and hear presentations from Professor Sir Mike Owen and Professor Jeremy Hall.

One in four adults and one in ten children are likely to experience a mental health problem in any year and this event will showcase how Cardiff University is using a combination of cutting-edge genomics and neuroscience to identify new treatment approaches. Professor Sir Mike Owen is a psychiatrist who has been researching the genetics of psychiatric disorders for over 30 years and who has identified genetic causes for schizophrenia, bipolar disorder and ADHD. Professor Jeremy Hall is an academic psychiatrist and neuroscientist. He researches how genetic and environmental risk factors for mental health problems affect the brain.

The event is free to attend and will commence with a drinks reception followed by presentations by Professor Sir Mike Owen and Professor Hall. Following the lecture there will be an interactive audience Q&A session with the speakers and guest panellist, Dr Sophie Dix (PhD 2001), Research Director at MQ.
