Future Mobility: Autonomous Vehicles

The advances in technology and peoples changing perceptions, mean travel around the UK could dramatically change. This will affect how we move people, services and goods, creating a new ecosystem of mobility. The shift will affect far more than automakers—industries from insurance to health care and from energy and media, should reconsider how they create value in this emerging environment.

There is already significant activity happening in the UK in this area and the UK"s Industrial Strategy outlines Future Mobility as one of four key themes, aiming to place the UK as a world leader in this space.

This session will explore some of the themes around future mobility. Speakers from industry and academia will share some of the latest developments and encourage engagement on how we go forward.

Speakers:

  • Prof Simon Gibson CBE, Chief Executive, Wesley Clover - 'Autonomous Vehicles, Changing perceptions of vehicle ownership and modern living'
  • Robin Gissing, Innovation Technologist, Heathrow Innovation Team- 'Automating Heathrow'
  • Prof Lorraine Whitmarsh, Social & Environmental Psychology, Cardiff University 'Transport Futures Research Network'

There will be a Q&A session with the speakers following their presentations.

Networking - A light buffet, refreshments and an opportunity for networking will be provided after the session.

Booking - Attendance at this event is free, but booking is required. Places will be allocated on a first come basis.

Registration - Registration will open at 5.30 pm. The session will start promptly at 6.00pm.
