In response to the concerns over climate change, governments throughout the world have identified sustainability in the built environment as a high priority. This has resulted in a step change in the construction industries approach to the low carbon agenda, with low and zero carbon or carbon neutral buildings set to play a major role in mitigating against further climate change.

This workshop will explore the design strategies related to the building form, envelope and a systems approach to achieving low and zero carbon design referring to case study examples, including buildings in Europe, China, the US and the energy positive SOLCER house in Wales.

The workshop will run from 11am-1pm, followed by a visit to the SOLCER house, near Bridgend, from 2-3.30pm. The visit will include a technical talk on the architecture and construction of the house, plus some free time.

Delivered by Professor Phil Jones.

Cost: £25 per person (Includes bus transportation between Cardiff University and the SOLCER House plus lunch, which will be provided on the coach)
