This event is the first of two online events on topics such as black identities, citizenship, racism, decolonisation and antiracist initiatives within an Italian context.

This first event is dedicated to the topics of black identities, citizenship, racism, and decolonisation within an Italian context.  It brings together academics, researchers and writers who have worked extensively on these issues.

The event will be held in Italian and English. The seminar series is made possible by the Leverhulme Trust and Cardiff University’s School of Modern Languages.

The guest speakers include:

Professor Loredana Polezzi (academic);

Dr Angelica Pesarini (academic and researcher);

Nathasha Fernando
(researcher and podcast creator);

Marilena Umuhoza Delli (writer and artist);

Oiza Q. Obasuyi (writer and researcher);

Djarah Kan (writer).

Event format & recording
The event will take place online as a Zoom webinar and will be recorded for publication after the event.

Simultaneous Translation
You are welcome to ask questions in the medium of Welsh during the Q&A session. If you intend to do this, please contact mlang-events@cardiff.ac.uk by Monday 25 October to request simultaneous translation. Please note that 10% or more of those planning to attend will need to request this provision in order for it to be sourced and will be subject to resource availability.
