This session provides the opportunity to hear from two experts on how our working lives are changing because of the global pandemic.  Are we more productive? Is management easier or more complex? Join us to find out.

Examining the recent surge in homeworking, its effect on productivity and its long-term future.

Alan Felstead, a Research Professor from the School of Social Sciences examines the recent surge in homeworking, its impact on employee productivity and the likelihood that it will become an enduring feature of work. The presentation is based on original analysis of three nationally representative surveys of workers as well as a selection of employer surveys.

What was it like for you? COVID, remote working and the future of work

Jonathan Morris, a Professor from the Management, Employment and Organisations group at CARBS reflects on what it was like for a selection of managers, from a variety of sectors and industries and different demographics, working from home during the COVID pandemic. The study highlights the positives and negatives and what, if anything, this presages for future patterns of managerial work.
