Overview

The annual two-day scientific meeting will be delivered online and hosted through the University IT support. The meeting is open to CITER members, Cardiff University and external to the University.

The Programme includes four Biomedical Life Sciences themes where CITER interest meets the theme; Immunology, Infection and Inflammation, Applied Healthcare Technology, Mind, Brain and Neurosciences and Cancer. There are seven sessions over the two days and selected sessions in the Programme are “open” and others are for CITER members and University colleagues only (please refer to the Programme listed in the below section).

Keynote speakers;

- Professor Yamni Nigam, Swansea University -  CITER and Immunology, Infection and Inflammation

-Professor Philip Rowe, University of Strathclyde - CITER and Applied Healthcare Technology

-Dr Zameel Cader, University of Oxford - CITER and Mind, Brain and Neurosciences

-Professor Xin Lu, University of Oxford - CITER and Cancer

The Programme includes internal guest speakers and talks from our bursary awardees on how the funding has allowed for collaborations of an interdisciplinary nature and any future work. In addition the meeting provides an excellent opportunity for early career researchers to Chair academic sessions.

The 2019-2020 cohort for the MSc Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine and the selected 2020 CITER Summer students will deliver a talk as part of the fire talk sessions.

Abstract submission

- Post-Doctoral Research Associates and PhD students both within and outside the University are invited to present research findings by delivering a fire talk /poster. The abstract is to be submitted using the template provided. Please request this via email citer@cardiff.ac.uk

-Please follow the guidelines when submitting your abstract.

Accepted abstracts will be given a reference number. The poster is to be uploaded onto Twitter including the reference number together with a 2-minute video presentation with CITER tagged in the tweet.

-Abstracts will be published in the ASM proceedings (consent provided) as an edited volume with ISSN available on the University website.

Deadline for MSc / CITER UG Summer Students: 24th August 2020 by 16:00

Prizes

There will be prizes awarded for the best talk / best poster.
