Marquess of Bute

The Marquess of Bute may have been credited as the father of modern Cardiff but perhaps godfather is a more fitting title. In this lecture, Continuing and Professional Education history tutor Elizabeth Jones explores the career of the Second Marquess, John Crichton Stuart, and how he was able to use his position to manipulate town affairs and exercise total political and economic control over the urban settlement
