Cardiff University is the driving force for cancer research in Wales. Our work covers the breadth of cancer research, with key strengths in cancer genetics, tumour microenvironment, drug discovery, development and delivery, and clinical trials.
The Cardiff University Future Leaders in Cancer Research (FLICR) programme makes financial awards to support early career researchers in their efforts to advance our understanding of cancer and its treatment. Beating cancer requires the brightest minds, innovative technologies and investment in talented researchers. FLICR aims to accelerate the pace of discovery by investing in talent and building a community of research excellence in Wales.
Neuroscience and mental health research
Cardiff University’s expertise is a focal point for neuroscience and mental health research worldwide. Home to an international community of leading researchers in neuroscience and mental health, we are at the forefront of understanding the genetics of mental illness, which affects one in four people in the UK in any given year. Help our expert researchers to further the understanding and treatment of neurological disorders, including Alzheimer’s disease, which represent some of the greatest challenges to society.
100% of the money you raise will go directly to the University's world-leading research. Research is where the change begins – help fight these devastating diseases.
How to get started
Apply for a charity place with us through our online form. We are accepting applications from runners who would like a Cardiff University space, and those who already hold their own place in the race.
If you have been successful in securing your own space, we’d love to have you on board as part of #TeamCardiff. You’ll receive all the same support as our charity place runners and you can set your own target for your fundraising.
We will allocate our charity places using the information you provided to us on the online form. Therefore, please make sure you have answered all questions fully, and provide us with as much information as possible about why you would like to run as part of #TeamCardiff.
Applications will close at midnight on Sunday 17 November. We will notify you by Friday 1 December if your application has been successful.
