Open Days

ents at Open Day Marquee

Visiting us gives you the opportunity to explore the university, including the Heath Park Campus where we are based. You will be able to meet current staff and students and ask questions - helping you choose the right place to study.

Saturday Open Days

As the University Dental Hospital (UDH) is closed at weekends it is not possible for the School to offer a tour of the dental teaching facilities on University weekend Open Days.

If you are only able to attend a weekend Open Day please do not worry, our clinical staff and students will be available to discuss the programmes in detail and you will have the opportunity to ask them questions about their experiences in the School. Talks by clinical staff are also held throughout the day allowing you to learn more about the professional training available and the entry requirements for all programmes.

On Saturday Open Days, the School’s staff and students will be based both at the Cathays Campus and on the Heath Park site. Tours of the University Hospital of Wales site are provided by students who will be able to show you some of the teaching facilities on site along with catering and social spaces. As noted above, no tours will be possible of the University Dental Hospital due to the weekend closure of the UDH.

We try to ensure that students studying at various points across the three courses are available at all of our Open Days allowing you learn more about the full clinical training experience.

Weekday Open Days

We feel that it is important that our applicants experience the ‘’real’’ University Dental Hospital environment and would encourage all budding clinicians to visit one of our weekday Open Day events if possible. This will enable future dentists, dental hygienists and therapists to visit clinical areas to see what life is really like as a student at Cardiff School of Dentistry. You will also have an opportunity to visit our recently refurbished £2.2M clinical simulation suite, where you will see the phantom heads you will train on before operating on patients. A range of talks and presentations are also delivered on weekday Open Days.
