Designed for those involved in some kind of ministry whether laity and clergy alike, our course aims to improve the competence of practitioners, assisting you to make a better contribution within your ministry.

You can choose from five pathways to suit your needs.

Teaching takes place at both South Wales Baptist College and St Padarn’s Institute over eight days each semester.

You will develop your intellectual competence and research skills, deepening your reflective practice and enhancing pastoral capability.

Our Theology programme is suitable for graduates in Theology and/or Religious Studies. Though primarily aimed at people engaged in Christian Ministry (in its widest understanding), laity or ordained ministers of religion alike, members of some other professional groups - e.g. nursing, medicine – will find it equally valuable.

Applicants should normally possess or expect to obtain a First or Upper Second class UK Honours degree, or equivalent. However, significant experience of ministry can also be taken into account.

Typical IELTS offer: An overall IELTS score of 6.5, with at least 6.0 in any sub-score is required for non-native English speakers or those who have not had a substantial part of their education taught in the English language.

 We welcome applications year-r.ound but to commence your studies in any given year (starting September), you must submit your application by 1st August

What you study depends on your pathway.

For this part-time PG Certificate you will take three modules over two Semesters (one year), combining core and optional modules designed specifically for your pathway (60 credits total).

As many of our part-time postgraduate programmes are over three years in duration, you will need to check your postgraduate loan eligibility status

On enrolment, you are assigned your own Personal Tutor and provided with teaching and learning resources, including Postgraduate Handbook. Additional specific module resources are made available during the programme.

Your personal tutor is your contact point to discuss any problems arising from the course. Further queries can be addressed to the School’s Director of Postgraduate Taught. Our Professional Services team is also available for advice and support.

Feedback:

Feedback on coursework may be provided via written comments on work submitted, by provision of ‘model’ answers and/or through discussion in contact sessions.

Assessment is via essays, assignments (such as book reviews and presentations) and written exams depending on the modules you choose.
