Scholarships for students from Ukraine

During the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak we want to ensure the welfare of our staff and students. Our staff won't be able to attend international exhibitions or events at this time but you can still get in touch.

We are pleased to announce that we are offering 20 full scholarships and bursaries to students displaced by the conflict in Ukraine.

The scholarships are available for new students entering the University in autumn 2022.

Undergraduate scholarships

There are 10 undergraduate scholarships available. They offer

  • a full tuition fee waiver
  • a stipend of £15,000 per year, for a maximum of three years.

Postgraduate scholarships

There are 10 postgraduate scholarships available. They offer:

  • a full tuition fee waiver
  • a stipend of £15,000, for a maximum of one year.

Successful applicants will not be eligible for other sources of funding via alternative schemes at Cardiff University.

Who can apply

Our scholarships are intended to support Ukrainian nationals at risk and fleeing armed conflict. To apply, you must:

  • be a Ukrainian national
  • already be in the UK under one of the following visa routes: Ukrainian Extension Scheme, Ukrainian Sponsorship Scheme (Homes for Ukraine) or Ukrainian Family Scheme
  • be able to evidence that you meet the entry requirements for your chosen course, including English language requirements
  • not be in receipt of non-repayable funding from alternative sources

How to apply

To apply for the scholarship, you must have applied to study at Cardiff University by 7 July 2022.

You can apply for the scholarship before you have an academic offer for study, but you must have received an academic offer by 31 July 2022. If you have not yet received an offer, we will be following that up on your behalf between now and 31 July 2022.

Scholarship applications will open at 10:00 BST on Friday 8 July 2022, and all applicants will be contacted, at that time, with a link to apply.

The link will remain live until 17:00 BST on 13 July 2022, but please note that applications will be considered in order of when they are received. It is therefore advantageous to apply as soon as you can.

Assessment criteria

We will consider making awards in the order in which applications are received.

When reviewing scholarship applications, the University will consider whether applicants meet the entry criteria before confirming an award.
